Enrollment Information for the 2026–27 School Year
Enrollment for SUSD Early Learning programs begins in January 2026. Families should note that preschool and pre-kindergarten enrollment is separate from K–12 enrollment.
From January 9 through January 16, prospective families will be able to complete a Google Form, available on the Early Learning website, to express interest in enrollment. The form will close at 10:00 p.m. on January 16.
Once the form closes, SUSD will use the Early Learning Priority Enrollment Groups to determine initial placement. While these groups guide the process, enrollment is not guaranteed, even if a family qualifies within a priority category. After review, families will be notified whether their child has secured a spot or has been placed on the waitlist.
Families who receive an offer will receive further instructions and will schedule an appointment to finalize enrollment during the Early Learning Enrollment Event on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
SUSD Early Learning & Community Education invites families to join a live, virtual informational meeting on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This session offers families an opportunity to learn more about SUSD’s high-quality early learning programs, as well as the registration and enrollment process for the 2026–27 school year.
During the meeting, the Early Learning team will provide an overview of SUSD’s toddler, preschool, and pre-kindergarten programs, as well as information about curriculum, classroom experiences, and the steps for registration and enrollment. At the end of the presentation, participants will have time to ask questions.
A link to join the December 9 virtual meeting will be posted on the SUSD Early Learning website.

Gifted Cluster Pre-K classes
Kiva, Redfield and Tavan offer gifted cluster Pre-K classes. The cluster model offers the best of both worlds - a developmental learning environment with typical peers and small group interactions with like-minded peers. Families of incoming Pre-K students may have their child participate in gifted testing. The Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-IV) is administered by an SUSD school psychologist. Please call Community Education - 480-484-7900 for information on how to sign up for testing.
The goal with our cluster classes is to include students who have been identified as gifted with typical peers within the same class.
- Grouping: Gifted children are "clustered" together in a class. We strive for at least 5 students (20% of the class) who have been identified as gifted. Some years we exceed that, some years we have far fewer students who have been identified as gifted.
- Teaching methods: Strategies that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Socialization: Opportunity for gifted children to interact with intellectual peers.
- Early identification: Helps recognize and nurture giftedness from an early age.
The cluster model also prepares eligible students for the Comprehensive Gifted Program (CGP) that begins in Kindergarten and is also housed at Kiva, Redfield, & Tavan.
